What is the Back-to-School Literacy Boost Program?

The Back-to-School Literacy Boost will counteract the “summer slide” as your child participates in small-group Orton-Gillingham based literacy instruction to strengthen foundational reading and writing skills. Grade-level skills will be reviewed and reinforced through explicit and systematic multi-sensory instruction. Each 90-minute lesson will incorporate the five core components of literacy instruction:

Phonemic Awareness
Phonics
Fluency
Vocabulary
Comprehension

Who will benefit?

The Back-to-School Literacy Boost program is geared toward students who have benefited from reading support in school to keep up with the pace of the regular classroom instruction. This small-group approach will provide a “boost” to help these students to maintain their gains from this school year and to enter the new school year with confidence.

If your child has been diagnosed with dyslexia or has been identified with a Specific Learning Disability in the area of basic reading and/or fluency skills, he/she/they may benefit from a more individualized approach to support. If you are interested in learning more about private tutoring services, send me a message through the “Contact” tab above.

This program is not geared toward students who are looking for enrichment and acceleration.
